there's a dark girl standing in the wings
there are dark eyes staring and they bring me pain and comfort
there's a dark girl laughing and I ask myself a question
there are blind eyes searching from a stage
there's a whitewash figure and I wonder if he sees me

Gimme Love

gimme, gimme, gimme love
I'm falling down, down, down, down, down, down
gimme. gimme, gimme love
I'm losing my my, my my, my my, my my, my mind
gimme, gimme, gimme love
who said you wouldn't leave me?
who said you wouldn't go?
'cause now I sit here waiting for you
how can you say no to me?
when I need to have you by me
there's something I want you to say
only you can make me happy
but not when you're so far away
lights go on and still I'm sitting
here I wait for here I wait for you
since you've gone I spend my time
thinking what I'd, what I'd do for you

the calendar in the first grade classroom
reads April 3rd, it's a lovely morning
one by one the children follow
to recite the words poetry has taught them
Larissa remember your parents, your comrades
Larissa remember we are you, we are you
about a third of the students perfect
the thoughts and words with emotion correct
no flaws thus far, this class untainted
as Larissa waits her turn
two stanzas hence, it's going smoothly
but the third is lost and silence follows
the SHAME of all Soviet upon her
to forget what no god has taught her
(*lyrics inspired by "Two Worlds Of Childhood: U.S. and U.S.S.R." by Urie Bronfenbrenner - p.1970)

Obscured

again so right you feel the chill
and you know just where you have aimed
but certainty is lost once more
(you're not far off... just a fraction to the left
but the target remains... obscured)
shoot at mirrors you miss so near
but a miss is a miss just the same
and only the image remains
